Tag

So, back in November, a friend tagged me in her blog. It's taken me awhile, but here I go:

1. I am the only girl in my family who was never a cheerleader, a homecoming princess or a student council member. I must have been a dork compared to my sisters! :)

2. I always thought I'd be a scientist or a chemist of some kind. I loved mixing things when I was little. Then I took chemistry and realized I can't stand science classes. It's too abstract for me to grasp. I am super visual and can't comprehend things smaller than an atom that I can't see.

3. I swore to myself I would never be a teacher. I thought it was one of the jobs that girls were expected to do. Of course, who knew I would actually love teaching, and it turned out I was pretty good at it. I am glad I ended up as an education major (it was my fourth major in one year!).

4. I get very overwhelmed when my house is a mess, but I don't like to clean. It's a catch 22 for me.

5. I don't watch much tv, but there are a few shows that I watch online when time allows: Scrubs, Arrested Development, The Office and How I Met Your Mother. They make me laugh out loud. I especially love when they still make me laugh out loud a day later when I just think about them.

6. Some day I'm going to count how many times I hear the word Momma in one day. I just heard it 35 times as A is waking from his nap. There's number 36....37...maybe I should go get him! :)

7. My hobbies make me seem a lot older than I am. I love to cook, bake, sew, quilt...I think I would fit right in at a retirement home!

So, there you have it. And I don't have 7 friends that blog, so I'll just tag everyone I know that writes a blog:

Ice Storm

Here are some pics from the snow storm.  It really is beautiful!  I can say that because we've been blessed with a house to cover our heads, a heater to keep us warm and we haven't lost electricity yet.

Snow Day

Today we woke up to about 4 inches of snow, and they say this may turn into one of the worst ice storms in Cincinnati history.  Before the ice started falling, though, I was able to get A outside.  It was so fun for him to play in the snow.  We even went sledding down our driveway.  He loved it!

Baby C had his 1 mo. appt. today, so we braved the snowy roads and headed to the doctor.  The kid has had a rough start to this world.  He is officially "colicky" and we are giving him some meds for acid reflux.  Hopefully this will help him have more happy times.  The meds have already helped a little, and supposedly in the next week and a half or so, they should help even more.  We'll see.  I'm looking forward to longer stretches of sleep, which could be coming within the next couple of weeks.  I hope.  I'm praying C catches on to sleeping a lot sooner than his brother who didn't sleep through the night until he was 15 months old.  But C is pretty cute.  He loves to be held and is so peaceful in someone's arms.  I've been carrying him around the house in a sling that I made, and he looks so cute asleep in the sling.

The one non-snow day pic is of A with his daddy before church on Sunday.  P's cousin gives us a ton of hand-me-downs for A, and they are all super cute and preppy.  A looked adorable in his striped blazer and designer jeans.  I just had to laugh that my not-quite 2 year old has more designer clothes than I do.

new words

a's language is starting to develop so quickly.  he's learned some new words lately that he uses often: "apple juice", "rocket" (thanks to Little Einsteins), "yeah boy", and he now has names for each of our neighbor's kids.  he has really started to crack me up with his words.  A talks in his sleep, but it's usually just mumbo jumbo.  Yesterday, though, in the middle of his nap, he started muttering "rocket... rocket".

A is also a huge flirt.  Everywhere we go, he finds a girl that he is infatuated with.  It is usually an older girl, and he follows her around with puppy dog eyes, trying to get a hug.  He's definitely headed for many a broken heart if this keeps up.  The other day, I took A to the library to get out of the house and to get some new books for him.  He found a girl, about 10 years old, and followed her everywhere trying to get her to read him a truck book.  The next afternoon when I went in to get him from his nap, instead of greeting me with a momma, the first words out of his mouth were "girl... book".  It was hysterical!

Museum Center

we took our first trip out into the real world with the whole family on saturday.  we headed to the museum center since we received a family pass as a gift.  i had never been to the children's museum, and i was really impressed.  we had a great time.

Cold! And Colds!

For those of you lucky enough to not live in the midwest, you may not realize how frigid it's been lately.  We haven't had it as bad as others, but it's been cold!  Our computer is in the basement, so I have to admit I haven't been able to brave the cold of our basement to post new pics.

C and A both are fighting colds.  It's made for a long week, especially since C isn't a great sleeper anyway.  I have had a chance to catch a few naps, so that has helped, but it's been tough to be trapped inside with two sick kids.  I hate to wish away the days, but I have to admit I am anxious for Spring to arrive.  I'm just not much of a winter person.

Other than that, not too much new around here.   I'll post  few new pics of the boys.  I'm sure I have tons of funny stories, but when I wait this long in between posts, I forget all the funny  moments.  Hope you are having a great weekend!  Stay warm!

this will be short...

A is at a friend's playing this morning, so I have a few hours to get stuff done (i.e. sleep!!).  I'm going to keep this short because C just fell asleep for the first time this morning.  C is not much of a sleeper, despite my desperate prayers throughout the pregnancy.  He is having some digestive problems, which makes it hard for him to sleep.  I'm going to go take advantage of this rare nap to catch up on some much needed sleep.

I just wanted to post this pic of C and A.  A is such a great big brother. :)  He loves to cuddle with his little bro.

Painting

My good friend, Shelley, gave the advice to take a picture when your kids make a mess because some time later it will be funny.  Today, A and I were painting, and I left for a minute to change C's diaper.  I came back, and A had painted his hands... completely covered in red paint.  Thankfully, the bottle didn't lie, and it was indeed washable paint.  Here's a pic of my budding artist, and a few other pics from this week.
